FOX F-ups

'Eye and 'Eer have duly noted our disgust for the coverage that FOX-TV has tormented all of us to during the BCS Bowls. Well, it didn't get much better last night. Clearly, Thom Brennaman and Charles Davis were watching a different game than the rest of us. This exchange in the second quarter drove me nuts.

Brennaman was getting all jacked up for no reason. Isn't there someone talking to him in his earpiece to let him know he's f-ing up? The down and distance is right there at the top of the screen. Someone tell these idiots.

So when Brennaman and Davis are telling Bob Stoops to go for it on fourth down it is actually third down. They even seem surprised when the Sooners are stopped on third down why the offense isn't leaving the field.

This doesn't even touch on the poor play calling by BCS choke artist Stoops.

I agree that was just plain stupid.

What really annoyed the hell out me was that stupid OU time to next play clock. What the hell was that? I realize that wouldn't huddle and get to the line to get set just so Florida couldn't substitute on defense, but then they would all look to the sideline for the play and there would be something line 30 seconds on that damn time until next OU play clock which meant they snapped the ball with 10 seconds on the play clock. Dude, Sam Bradford may be good, but that's not Peyton Manning calling plays under center. Is it really uptempo and hurry up offense if you just stand at the line of scrimmage for 30 seconds before you snap the ball?

Good point Cowboy. I was interested in the "next play" clock for two plays. Then I realized it didn't really matter because OU was running the old hurry-up offense that RichRod used to do at WVU. His "Spot The Ball" was basically get to the line and wait 25 seconds.

Not that I'm all pro-ESPN, but it will be nice to get these important games off FOX.
